The 11th edition of the Workshop Infancia_c series turns full-force to creativity and inventiveness in child and youth research. We seek papers and experiences that showcase, build on, critique or revise efforts at methodological experimentation, tinkering with research devices and/or use of arts-based methodologies to investigate complex contemporary phenomena and engage with the challenges of studying young people. Presentations can have a more substantive orientation and focus on presenting «research» findings or be more methodological-conceptual in nature. Papers may draw on a variety of epistemic and methodological perspectives relevant to the discussion (i.e. collaborative research, multimodal and sensorial ethnography, post-humanist approaches, critical research, etc.). In an effort to explore different formats, engage with various audiences and take advantage of the possibilities of el Centro Cultural La Corrala / MATP – UAM WS#11 is organized across three days and types of events:
Friday 4th April 2025: Full day of oral communications and discussion. Onsite: Centro Cultural La Corrala – UAM (Madrid, Spain).
Saturday 5th April 2025: Half-day of workshops, exhibitions and or performative events. Onsite: Centro Cultural La Corrala – UAM (Madrid, Spain).
Friday 16th May 2025: Half/Full day of oral communications. Online / CET time-zone.
About Workshops Infancia_c
This regular event is hosted by the research group based at the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid «Infancia Contemporánea / Contemporary Childhood» and the network of colleagues who collaborate with the group. We care about providing spaces for supportive discussion of research ideas, projects and findings broadly connected to a full array of questions and concerns about the lives and experiences of children and youth in contemporary societies. Workshops Infancia_c inaugurated in 2013 have been one of these forums. These meetings are structured around 1-2 day small-sized events of presentations and substantive discussion of on-going research by colleagues from around the world. Each of the past workshops was designed around a specific thematic focus and took place with a format (online, on-site or hybrid) adjusted to the focus of the call, the needs of participants and surrounding circumstances in the world. While maintaining the spirit of small-sized events that favor exchange and discussion, since 2024 the Workshop is designed with a longer time-table, a more purposeful bilingual design and a day dedicated to more interactive workshops and creative installations that take advantage of the possibilities that Centro Cultural La Corrala (an UAM civic center located in downtown Madrid) offers to participants and visitors.
Registration
Participation in the Workshop is free but requires registration. For the onsite event spaces are limited and non-presenting participants will be accepted by strict order of registration. The online event requires this first registration to receive the online link forms. In addition, the program for the 5th of April 2025 will include exhibits and participatory workshops that may have their own registration process.
